I would definately recommend using the "trace shadows" option, it only slows
rendering a little and gives much better results.
As for reflection, this only works if the surface has any reflectivity and
refraction only shows if your surface has transparancy.
Otherwise I agree, even using an A4000/030/25 with 68882 it does slow things
down a tad !!
